First of all, hotel lighting can be divided into lobby lighting, guest room lighting and restaurant lighting according to the bright area. The lighting design of each area has different discussions. Now we will explain them one by one.
(I)Lobby lighting
The lobby lighting area is mainly divided into three parts: door and front hall lighting, general service desk lighting and guest rest area lighting. The lighting of the reception hall should pay attention to the following points:
(1) According to the decoration requirements, there are generally large chandeliers, lanterns and other personalized lamps to show the style of the hotel. The entrance and exit of the hotel lobby are mainly used to satisfy the hotel lighting and hotel corridors, guest rooms, leisure areas, etc. For the lighting needs of the venue, the hotel also needs to consider the transitional indoor light environment in the guest room. （2）The reception hall has high illuminance requirements to show the nobility of the guests. At the same time, registration and other reading and writing activities are required in the hall, and the illuminance value is not less than 300Lx. For hotels above four stars, it is recommended to add dimming equipment. There is little difference in the color temperature between the indoor and outdoor light, and the whole hotel reflects the feeling of brightness and light effect, so that people can feel the light when they enter the hotel lobby. It feels more comfortable. At the same time, the color temperature of the hotel is higher, which can also expand the visual sense of space for customers, improve the temperament of the entrance of the hotel guests, and also leave a very deep impression on the guests;
（3）The general lighting uses embedded downlights for the starry arrangement. When entering the back door of the hotel, we can reduce the color temperature to about 2000K. 2) Main service desk lighting design
The general service area is the main area where guests gather. Check-in, checkout, inquiries, currency exchange, etc. are all completed here. The illumination requirements are high. Generally speaking, the high brightness of 500-800lx highlights the importance of the service desk. Guide the sight of the guests. In addition, it can easily complete the fast registration and settlement process. The color temperature, 3000K, is the same as that of the front hall to further enhance the cordial atmosphere. The color rendering index should be above 85.
The general service desk can choose the following lighting methods:

(2) Boom-type downlights are installed above the counter;

3) Guest rest area
The brightness of the rest area waiting for guests to rest temporarily should not be too high: illuminance 200lx, color temperature 3000K, color rendering index Ra>85. And it is best to be dimmable, in order to achieve the purpose of energy saving at night.
Hotel rest area lamps often incorporate some unique elements, such as humanistic elements, theme elements, decorative elements and so on.
Lighting applications must consider not only functionality, but also artistry and moderate brightness. The energy-saving downlight with warm yellow light (3000K) and strong color reproduction (color rendering Ra>80) is used as the basic lighting, and the ceiling lamp is used as auxiliary lighting. In order to reflect the rest function and pay attention to the control of glare, it is best to use hidden light sources.
The lighting in the rest area of the star hotel should have a sense of hierarchy, and at the same time pay attention to conform to the surrounding environment, pay attention to the perfect integration of decorative style and lighting; use energy-saving downlights as basic lighting, equipped with warm yellow light (3000K), high color rendering (Ra> 90) light source; ceiling lamp as auxiliary lighting, dark slot lamp as scene lighting, highlighting the level of the top space; floor lamp as decorative lighting, reflecting the taste of the hotel.
(II) Room lighting
The guest room is one of the basic spaces of the hotel, and the choice of lamps and lighting design directly affects the guest’s experience. Reasonable hotel room lighting selection and lighting design can give guests the most direct favor. The guest room should be like home, making guests feel at home, calm, comfortable and warm. The low illuminance of the guest room lighting can show quietness, rest and even idols. The general illumination is 50-100lx. The key lighting such as bathroom mirror lamp and bedside reading lamp should be sufficient illumination of 300lx. In summary, there are probably six principles as follows.

Second, the light source of hotel room lamps is mainly incandescent, which is very close to natural light.
Third, the bedside lighting fixtures should be free of glare and hand shadows when going to bed and reading, and should be able to switch within the reach of one’s hand. Bedside lamps should be dimmed. Stand-by lighting should be provided on the passage of the guest room.
Fourth, guest room lighting should prevent uncomfortable glare and light curtain reflection. The brightness of the lamps installed on the desk should not be greater than 510cd/square meter, nor should it be less than 170cd/square meter.
Fifth, for the lighting of the full-length mirror in the guest room and the vanity mirror in the bathroom, the lamps should be installed outside the solid angle of view of 60 degrees, and the brightness of the lamps should not be greater than 2100cd/m². The control of bathroom lighting should be located outside the bathroom door.

In addition, in order to break the sense of oppression and boring in the corridor, light is usually used to partition the wall to illuminate the objects in the corridor, interrupting the original length and making it more interesting. You can also install the footlights at a height of 20-30 cm from the ground, and play a guiding role in the middle of the night when other lights are turned off.
If the lighting design of the hotel entrance, lobby, and front desk is the facade of a five-star hotel, then the lighting design of the hotel rooms and corridors is the interior of the hotel.
